About DoT
Designed Objects Tasmania (DOT) is proud to be Australia’s longest running design collective. The organisation has a state wide membership base and provides studio space, workshop facilities, mentoring, advocacy, networking, exhibitions and professional development opportunities for practising designers. DOT employs an Industry Development Officer and Administrative Assistant on a part time basis who work to support members and increase the viability of DOT and the Tasmanian design sector.
Commissions
DOT offers both commercial and private clients a skilled and innovative pool of designers and makers. The great advantage of our service is that you need only deal with one point of contact, saving time and frustration.
How to Become a Member?
The DOT community is always excited to welcome new object designers, makers and craftspeople into the collective. It is firmly believed that representation across generations is needed to stimulate innovation. Some designers have been members for twenty years and some are new graduates.

History of DOT
In 1986 ten Tasmanian designers united under the banner of the Designer Makers Cooperative in order to pool their resources, creativities and expertise in a spirit of cooperation and community.
In 2004 the Designer Makers’ Cooperative of eighteen years became Designed Objects Tasmania Inc (DOT) – a not-for-profit organisation that aimed to bring together the values of the original cooperative while reaching a wider network of designers.
