Cityscape Wall Button Installation

The central concern in my work is pattern. I am interested in creating designs that have both a functional and aesthetic value and I have an ongoing interest in textiles for interiors. I work directly onto fabric using hand cut stencils and building up designs layer by layer. This process is often carried out hundreds of times in order to create a repeat pattern over a single textile length. The designs for Cityscape play with patterns in architecture and began during a residency at the Australian Tapestry Workshop, Melbourne 2010. They continue to evolve in the City of Hobart 2011.
