DOT has always seen encouraging and fostering early-career designers and makers as a priority. One of the ways we seek to do that is by offering a Springboard Scholarship.

Late in each calendar year, when it is financially able, DOT seeks applications from new or recent design graduates for this scholarship. The scholarship provides one subsidised studio space and workshop access to an early-career (typically less than 3 years) designer-maker. This scholarship, and the collective support and advice provided by DOT members, greatly assists new graduates transitioning from study to developing a successful commercial practice. The Scholarship recipient will be expected to produce a body of work for exhibition at the end of the subsidised year, with at least one product being developed to the point of commercial viability.
